Have You Met Barney . . . from ‘How I Met Your Mother’

April 10, 2007

Have you met Barney?  Barney is the token single guy on the CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother.”  And in my opinion, Barney (along with Allyson Hannigan’s Lilly) is what makes this New York-based show so funny.

BarneyPlayed by Neil Patrick Harris, Barney is no Doggie Howser.  In fact, Barney is the guy every mother warned her daughter about.  Barney is the epitome of that single guy who refuses to grown up — he thinks women are for his enjoyment and life is one on-going party.

But his antics make for good television.  Barney is always trying to talk his buddies out of their committed relationships.  He tries to get them to “suit up” and go trolling with him.  His favorite pick up line is “Have you met [insert friend's name here].”  In one episode, he stole his friend Ted’s moving truck to try and prevent him from moving in with his girlfriend — and he succeeded.

Barney also delivers the best lines in the show.  Tonight while planning his buddy Marshall’s bachelor party, he had this discussion about strippers:

How do you feel about a prosthetic arm?  Is it a deal breaker?  Before you say no, what if I tell you it comes with attachments?

Just when you when you are about to write off Barney for the dog that he is.  He does something incredibly sweet.  Tonight, in a flashback, Barney, seeing how devastated Marshall and Lilly’s breakup made Marshall, flew to San Francisco told Lilly that Marshall needed her, gave her a ticket to fly home and then told her he’d deny this visit if anyone found out.

How can you not love a character like that.  Love live Barney and his great dialog!  I need the laughs.

Too Many Hard Boiled Eggs Left . . .

April 10, 2007

Easter EggsColoring the Easter eggs is the fun (although messy) part.  Hunting the eggs is the best part.  But now that Easter’s over what do you do with all those hard boiled eggs?

Here are a few recipes I found that you might try:

Easy Egg Salad – Learn to make an egg salad in four quick steps.

Ham Hash with Eggs in Mustard — The mustard cream sauce here sounds delicious.  I can’t wait to try this out.

Egg Casserole — Anything you can put in the oven and bake is golden with me.

Scotch Eggs — If you’ve never had scotch eggs, they a worth a try.  I had them at a Scottish event and really enjoyed them.  This recipe is for the oven as well.

Cream Cheese Delights — I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a recipe with cream cheese and ketchup, but it sounds interesting.

Seafood Medley Casserole — Another baking recipe for all you seafood lovers out there.

And of course, there’s my favorite, Deviled Eggs.

Enjoy your eggs — for breakfast, for lunch, for dinner — and have a happy April!
