Beam Me Up Scotty

James DoohanThe Associated Press reports that the ashes of James Doohan, better known as Scotty, the engineer on the original Star Trek series, will join Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry’s remain in space.

Doohan, who passed away in 2005, will be making his final journey into space on April 28 in rocket with the remains of more than 200 others.

I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Doohan once.  Both the man and the character will be sorely missed.

Seems only appropriate that Scotty be “beamed up” this one final time.  May he rest in peace.
