‘Staying Alive’ not enough to keep LaKisha alive on ‘American Idol’

After Wednesday, American Idol is down to the final three contestants.  The Bee Gees and Disco night weren’t kind to most of the contestants, but LaKisha Jones’ rendition of “Staying Alive” wasn’t enough to keep her alive in the competition.  She now heads home.

LaKisha JonesAside from the results, the rest of Result Night was rounded out with filler.  The effort to fill the hour result show must be taking its toll, because even Ryan Seacrest was making fun of the filler.

Pink joined Barry Gibbs as the two artists singing for the evening.  Unfortunately, I found nothing special about either performance.  And both were quickly forgotten.  The final four sang together with a melody of Barry Gibb’s songs.

In other filler:  Melinda Doolittle, Jordin Sparks, Blake Lewis and Jones became the Fab Four in their latest Ford video which was reminiscent of the Beatles’ “A Hard Day’s Night.”  The foursome also got to see a special screening of the newest Fantastic Four movie, The Rise of the Silver Surfer.  And of course, we got to meet the cast of the film.  We got to see a glimpse of Simon Cowell’s girlfriend and we learned a little about the final four contestants’ childhoods.

Apparently next week the last three contenders get to head home so I expect more footage of their family in the next result show.  Lewis rounded out the bottom two this week so he’d better be on his game next week if wants to stay in this contest.  But I expect to find Doolittle and Sparks in the final.

They never announced Blake as being in the bottom two btw, not once in the show did Ryan say top two or bottom two which leads me to believe that the order they were declared safe was random.

Sharon, you are absolutely right. I just assumed that Blake was in the bottom two by the way it was announced.

  3. Pinky says:

Melinda Doolittle is great but she has had professional jobs singing. Although she is great it would not e fair for her to win. Jordan & Blake are not professionals and should be in the finals. I am routing for Jordan. To be seventeen with a voice like hers, she needs to win.
